MDM upgrade to MDG

Hi Experts,

I would like to know if there are any possibility of upgrading from MDM to MDG or any re-use existing functionality that can be re used. To my knowledge it is not possible but please correct me or provide links to documentation if available. I know that MDG provide standard functionality but does it mean you will have to do a custom model if you want to retain some of the processes in your current MDM system. Example the workflow is preconfigured or rule based in MDG and I am not sure if existing MDM workflows can still be used.

Your feedback will be highly appreciated.

Thanks and best regards

Riaan

    Hi Experts,

For anyone that is interested. I got this very useful answer from Christian Geiseler from SAP.

    Thanks Christian!

    'Hi Riaan,

MDM uses different technology stack than MDG. Thus there is unfortunately nothing like a tool or migration wizard to transform from MDM to MDG. Also many of the developments and tweaks in MDM might no longer be possible in MDG as many features like validation against customizing reference tables or personalised UI's being configurable instead of coded are part of MDG standard capabilities. Many Clients are also moving back to standardised procedures and application usage after having a lot of adaptations in MDM. a Mayor part of any MDM/MDG implementations goes into defining roles, tasks and responsibilities, rules and validations etch and this work does not have to necessary be repeated to the same extend'

    Best regards

    Riaan
