SAP ERP 6.0 upgrade to EHP 8 - kernel upgrade problem

Hi All,

We faced the problem when we upgraded our system to EHP 8 and to do this we also done the upgrade of SAP kernel to 745 PL 200.

We needed to downgrade the system back to 742 as some SQL statements in std and non-std codes started to take much more time.

Good example is MB51 with option Start Off with Material Number, which took minutes for single material number after this.

Anyone faced the same issue with EHP 8 and solved it?

Best Regards,

Tomek

Hi Tomek,

Please refer "Symptom" section of below SAP Note and the other notes mentioned in same section and see if that matches the issue you faced.

As per this SAP Note PL201 has replaced PL200 for 745 release

2299971 - SAP Support Package Stack Kernel 7.45 Patch Level 200

Thanks,

Manish

Hi,

Thanks for answering, though I actually have read this and we upgraded from PL200 to PL201 but it didn't help. We needed to go back to 7.42 to get things working fine again.

I wonder if anyone else had this we have DB2 database on Linux (DB6) .

Best Regards,

Tomek

Hi Tomasz.

I think it may be in bug, you can raise the ticket SAP support.

Hi,

EHP8 installation has included with NW7.50 also. If you downgrade the Kernel to fix one issue, it might affect some other functionalities. So, the approachable way is to address this incident to SAP for more help.

Hi Tomek,

you are running a DB2 LUW on EHP8 with kernel 742?

Kernel 7.42 is not supported with EHP8 (SAP_BASIS 750).

Did you already check the parameter recommendation (OS, DB, System/Kernel) which may have been changed with the new release?

Maybe SAP note 2338139 (DB6: Performance of FOR ALL ENTRIES with MEMORY_TABLE) is helpful.

Best regards,
Andreas

Hi Andreas (and others).

I am fully aware that we can't go on with EHP 8 with downgraded Kernel, we have our system already upgraded with new Kernel (and there the problem persists) .

We needed to donwgrade production and now we need to know how to approach.

We are going through  SAP note 2338139 (DB6: Performance of FOR ALL ENTRIES with MEMORY_TABLE) and it sounds like something that might be connected. We also created incident to SAP.

If you have any more ideas, or history that any of you can give around the topic, I will appreciate!

Thanks!

Hi All,

Note from Andreas solves the issue (2338139 ).

And it is quite fresh, from yesterday (15.08) so I guess it was a common problem for DB6 systems.

Tomek
