Hi
Running BPC Embedded with BWIP, latest versions.
We are currently undergoing an implementation and our consultant had originally developed all ~65 of our input workbooks against two BEx queries, both with all accounts and profit centres selected; one based on a weekly calendar and one a monthly calendar.
This was causing us no end of issues when in Edit Mode in the EPM add-in with query locking, and ultimately meant that only one person could ever be in Edit Mode at any one time ... obviously not suitable for a budgeting or forecasting cycle when you have many users wanting to make changes within a small turn around time.
We had asked if we could just turn the locking feature off and have no locking whatsoever but were told that this is how BPC works and it cant be disabled. We lock based on Account and Profit Centre dimensions as things stand.
Is this the case?
If not, are there some settings somewhere where you can toggle this feature on or off?
In the end, we have developed unique BEx queries per workbook (containing only relevant Account and Profit Centres to each workbook) and re-linked the EPM reports to these queries so that locking is minimised (only occurs now if two people try to go into Edit Mode when in the same workbook).
How has anyone else handled this in projects they have worked on and are there any clear advantages to having locking activated (if indeed there is a choice)?
If anyone could point me to any useful documentation or articles which help to explain this in detail that would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
JB
