Any guess is as good as mine, but it seems to be the technology to be for the upcoming years, and ABAP seems to be downgraded a bit.

As for the opportunities, I don't see so many pure Fiori offerings, and in my company there is not so much Fiori work yet.

You may want to consider enhancing your design skills while you're at it, as you may find it difficult to get a full-time designer for a project yet.

There are some free openSAP courses for that.

Thanks Michael for your suggestion.

Yes,there are very few openings regarding in sap fiori.

That was my main concern,if you learn some thing new technology and the same doesn't have any job openings then I think you need reconsider of taking the path of that new technology.

Do let me know your view on it.

In my company we have to push for it and the pace is slow, so I think i will slowly migrate towards that direction rather than jump straight from abap to sapui5.

I don't have any freelance experience in that matter, and when you check job postings on some big social networks like Linked-In there is no hype yet, although sometimes they mention SAPUI5 as a bonus rather than a must. But I think it will change..

I am SAP SD functional consultant.

What are your thoughts if a functional person learns SAP fiori and ui5 ?

Nothing special in particular.

JS is already well established and has many tutorials, HTML5 is also well described. SAPUI5 has some openSAP trainings for free. If you have the time and will do it.

But it's a full time gig like any other programming job, so having it as an addition won't work well.

What would be your thoughts if I learnt some SD? Probably the same..
