SAP B1 9.1PL12, edit UI template, some fields not available

Hello,

I'm trying to make some fields read-only on a UI template to be assigned to a specific group of users.

The problem I found is that not all fields are available to be configured when doing it via Administration->Utilities->UI Configuration Template (although there's a workaround to make them available when editing a single UI on Tools->Edit Form UI).

Here's how to reproduce the issue:

Suppose you want to make the "Active From"/"Active To" (OITM validFrom/validTo) fields read-only on the Item Master Data form.

1 - open the Inventory->Item Master Data (no item loaded), and go Tools->Edit Form UI. You can see that the aforementioned fields are not available, so you can't right-click on it, nor are they available at the Form Settings list (see attached one.png).

2 - now exit the form editing mode, load an inventory item, and go again to Tools->Edit Form UI. Now there are more fields to be configured, both with right-click and on the Form Settings list (see attached two.png).

3 - now try to do the same on a UI template (on Administration->Utilities->UI Configuration Template).

I could not find a way (neither our local vendor support) to make those fields (and others) available for editing in the template, as there is no way of loading an item before editing the form.

Is there any trick for that?

Thanks,

Joao S Veiga

Ok, answering to my own question.

To make the fields show up to be configured while editing the template, it is necessary to click the "Add New" button as if adding a new item record.

Strangely, our local vendor got the hint from a guru who tried this on 9.2 PL3 and he said it didn't work for localized fields (did not save changes), but at least for me at 91 PL12 it seems to work ok.
