SAP BOBJ 4.1 SP6 is very slow when using CMC sometime!!

Dear all,

The system is SAP BOBJ 4.1 SP6 with oracle 11g. Normally I log on CMC page or change menu in dropdown list. The screen is loading for 5-10 second. But whenever the disk activity is full of Tomcat7 as attached picture. the screen is loading for 2-5 minutes which it is quite slow. I am not sure what to do next.

I have already done with 1816439 - General slowness with Business Objects Enterprise XIR3.1 and BI4.0 when using Oracle as CMS DB. But it still happens.

Could you please suggest me?

JAVA OPTION of Tomcat:

-Djava.library.path=C:\Windows\SysWOW64\;E:\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\

-Dcatalina.base=E:\SAP BusinessObjects\tomcat\

-Dcatalina.home=E:\SAP BusinessObjects\tomcat\

-Djava.endorsed.dirs=E:\SAP BusinessObjects\tomcat\common\endorsed\

-Dbobj.enterprise.home=E:\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\

-Xrs

-XX:MaxPermSize=384M

-Djava.awt.headless=true

-XX:+HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError

-Xloggc:E:\SAP BusinessObjects\tomcat\logs\tomcat.gc.log

-XX:+PrintGCDetails

-XX:+UseParallelOldGC

-Djava.security.auth.login.config=c:\windows\bscLogin.conf

-Djava.security.krb5.conf=c:\windows\krb5.ini

Thank you a lot,

Ned

It seems to be a issue with the tomcat.

How many users\tomcat?

check the behaviour with any other tomcat, like use other env tomcat and current CMS name to loggin.

Hi K.Raunak krub,

Thank you for you guide. This is a QA environment and we prepare for the system for SIT phase so there are only 5 people for now.

When the QA is slow, I will try to use TOMCAT of DEV system, CMS of QA system and let you know the result.

Thank you,

Ned

Hi,

please check also the following things:

1. Response time between CMS.exe and the CMS DB

2. Anti- Virus exceptions for the BI Services and the BI Installation directory

Hello,

open the properties of your CentralManagementServer and click on Metrics. There you find the following two Metrics:

These two values should be lower than 50. Please verify this.

Hi Ned,

How much is the available RAM on the server?

Do you face slowness only while opening the CMC/ BI launchpad or while navigating through the folders?

tnsping to the Oracle server and share the response time results.

Sharvari

Hi  Raunak,

When the QA is slow, I try to use TOMCAT of DEV system, CMS of QA system. I can log on to CMC in 5-10 second which is normal. I think there is something wrong only tomcat of QA system.

Thank you,

Ned

Hi Sharvari,

Server's RAM is 24 G

It sometime occurs while opening the CMC/BI launchpad and change the menu in dropdown list.

Most of the time, server is good. However slowness will come with the tomcat7 task in task manager.

TNSPING:

Thank you,

Ned

Hi Ned,

You could try to clear the tomcat cache with the following steps:

-Stop the tomcat from the Central Configuration Manager (CCM)

Navigate to the folder :  < Install folder>\SAP BusinessObjects\tomcat\work\Catalina\localhost

Rename the localhost directory to localhost_old

-Start Tomcat

Note that it would take approximately 10 -15 minutes for the cache to build again and access the CMC/ BI Launchpad page.

Also, monitor and share the memory consumption of tomcat7.exe when you start to face slowness.

Sharvari

u got it right. thats why i asked u to check diffrent tomcat.

delete cache, redeploy WAR files will be the steps to proceed.

Hello,

the response times look good so far. So i think it is not a problem with the communication between the CMS.exe and the CMS DB.

First please try to delete the cache and re- deploy the war files.

As a next step please check the Anti- Virus exceptions (SAP Note - 1497394).

If your BIP runs on Window, please open the IE on the BIP Server and retry your workflow locally.

Hi all,

I delete the cache and re- deploy the war files but the issue still occurs. In my opinion, the slowness will occur more often.

please suggest me.
