SAP LT to ILM

I am looking for a requirement for decommissioning an ECC system ,  extracting complete data through LT(Landscape transformation) and loading to ILM and archiving. Please suggest SAP best practice for this scenario. Any how to document , step by step process. Don't confuse with SAP SLT replication to HANA, I am not looking for SLT to HANA scenario.

Hi,

The usage of SLT replication sever for ILM does require some customizations. The steps followed are something like this:.

1. Create/Generate shadow tables in SLT with the same structure details as in source system. For example , if you are interested in transferring BKPF, create ZBKPF in SLT with same structure info.

2. Use the "Deviation table" configuration in the SLT replication customizing transaction to say transfer data from BKPF into ZBKPF.

3. Trigger data transfer for BKPF.

Follow the steps for all the tables which you want to transfer data into SLT for decommissioning purpose.

Next step is to create archive files out of SLT so that you can take them over to ILM Retention warehouse.

To create archive files in SLT , you can use two tools:.

1. LEW : which is an ILM tool to create archiving objects and execute them based on Mass transfer id's created through SLT.

You can find detailed info at : Decommissioning using Legacy Extraction Workbench

2. CDE: with some tweaks in the CDE ( if you already know this tool ), you can utilize the archiving functionality.

Once the archive files are created in SLT, its the standard ILM functionality to connect to SLT and take over archive files and store it in ILM Storage.

If you are decommissioning a system using SLT approach for the first time, I encourage you to reach out to SAP SLO consulting to guide you .

Hi Dharshan,

Thank you for the reply. This is what I am looking for. My scenario we will be decommissioning an ecc system of @ 30k tables some are very big table. I will be extracting all the tables from ECC to slt then to ILM.

1. How I can map 30k tables to target tables. Do you have any step by step screenshot for this scenario. Do we need to import library tables first. How we do this through LTRC. If you have any  document.

2- To create archive files in SLT , you can use two tools:.

I used ilm_ltrun many times, few confusion in this area. Like do we have to use same Mass TID used for SLT. Create a new , need to create archive file again etc. I will try.

Past I involved in SLT with ILM few use case like SLT ABAP to ABAP and ILM_LTRUN.

Once again thank you for your answer. After your reply I will close this thread with points.

Regards

Fred

Hi Fred,

At present the mapping of tables have to be done manually or reach out to SAP SLO for their tools and guidance.

For using ILM_LTRUN, you need to use the same MTID as used for data transfer.

Wish you success!

Thanks and Regards,

Hi,

SAP LT is used for transformation/conversion projects and it provides transformation solutions and the solution portfolios. It provides the transformation capabilities for the following scenarios-

  • Leverage, Sell, Buy and Restructure
  • Uniform and Transform data
  • Consolidate and Reduced IT cost
  • Analyses

You can get more for each of these scenarios at

Overview of SAP Landscape Transformation - SAP Library

Whereas you are looking for the solution to decommission an ECC system and loading to ILM and archiving and I think for this the correct solution would be Using ILM Retention Warehouse for System Decommissioning.

Here is link where you can get more info about it -

Thanks
