SAP Business Objects Analysis for MS-Office 2016 64-bit

Hello - I have tried several times to install the Analysis for Office 2016 64 bit Excel Add-on. It keeps telling me that the "Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime not found" and gives me a link below this message to download the same. I have downloaded software from the link, installed it and yet my Analysis for Office 2016 64-bit version does not install. Any pointers as to what I am doing wrong?

TIA

Problem solved by SAP after I opened an incident. See SAP's response below:

Could you please uninstall "Microsoft VIsual C++ 2010 Redistributable Setup" and "Microsoft Visual Studio 2010" for Office Runtime from control panel?

Afterwards please install "Microsoft Visual Studio 2010" and then run the AO installer again

I ran the above steps and now I have Analysis for Office 64-bit enabled in my Excel 2016 application

Hi Jagannathan,

Please refer to the SAP note 1466118. It explains about hardware and software requirements for AO.

It also highlights few things about using MS Office 2016 version, it requires a different installer.

Jag,

BI 4.2 w/ SP2 does NOT support MS Office 2016 and also only 32bit version of MS Office 2013 is supported, see link to PAM (Page #14)

https://support.sap.com/content/dam/library/ssp/infopages/pam-essentials/SBOP_BI_42.pdf

If you want support for MS Office 2016, you need to wait for BI 4.2 w/ SP3.  SP3 is tentatively going to go GA on Aug 19th.  SP3 is currently in Ramp-Up testing.  See below DRAFT version of PAM for internal Ramp-up testers ONLY

Ajay - I am surprised in that I was able to download "SAP Business Objects Analysis for Office" specifically for Office 2016 64-bit. Since this is an add-on to Excel, there is no dependency on the BOBJ Enterprise platform.

I will raise an incident with SAP shortly.

Thanks

Jag,

If you NOT connecting through BI Platform then MS Office 2016 is supported.  Please see link to AA 2.2 PAM (page #10), you need to be running AA 2.2 w/ SP2 or higher for MS Office 2016 64bit support.

Hi Ajay - That is what I am saying here, the 64-bit Analysis for Office version 2.3 does not work with Office 2016 64-bit. I will raise an incident with SAP tomorrow.

Thanks

Jagannathan Santhanam

Which version of Analysis Office? 2.3?  Which SP?

Is your Office 64-bit?

What does "TIA" mean?

There was an SP released on July 22nd - I recommend trying that and see what happens.

Same error, no luck. Is anyone using 64-bit Analysis for Office Software with Excel 2016?

See this wiki: Analysis Office Installation and Update - SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse - SCN Wiki - at the very end there is a check install tool, and steps to create an incident with SAP.

I am using Analysis 2.3 w/ Excel 2016, no issues, but I am 32-bit Office
