Finance journal upload with support attachments

Hi All - I have a requirement where client needs a mass journal upload template for bulk transactions that also supports uploading of attachments through the same upload.

Scenario

To cater to the mass journal upload requirement, typically we would use either a BAPI, BDC recording or LSMW to develop the custom program which will support the file format we need for the upload. The file format will have columns/fields like company code, doc/posting dates, accounts, amounts, posting keys etc. The upload program and file would then be used to upload the transactions in SAP.

To attach support documents (pdf, excel etc.) to each transaction, we will then go to FB02/FB03/FBV3/FBV2 and manually attach support to each document. If there are 100 transactions uploaded, the process has to be repeated 100 times. The attachment will then ether sit in SAP database of any other content management solution - i am not worried on that part of the solution.

Concern

Above process is easy if the volume of transactions is less.

However, if the volume of transactions is more, attaching support document to each transaction will be a cumbersome task and would have FTE (additional resources) impact, which defeats the purpose of mass upload.

Question:

1.) Is there a way to include attachments as part of the upload template so additional activity of uploading attachments is not required?

2.) Is there is a way, could you please suggest the solution as well?

Thanks,

Nitish

Hi,

Hope you already aware of the upload methods.

Your objective is to upload multiple attachments when the data volume is high.

Why don't you select background processing by specifying timelines for multiple attachments or (after finishing the 1st job / activity like that..?)

Nitish,

This question is more about Document management system, Its better if you post it in DMS forum.
