Hide Query Views in Design Studio Generic Analysis

Former Member

Hello,

we want users to be able to create their own query views and work with them but they are not allowed to view the query views of other users.

For this purpose we have set special authorizations for query views in the authorizations objects "S_RS_COMP" and "S_RS_COMP1" (please see below or attachment).

When working with Analysis for Office and BEx Analyzer this is working fine.

But when using Generic Analysis in Design Studio all the query views are displayed. I guess that's because "S_RS_COMP" is specific to the Business Explorer.

Is there a way to adapt these authorizations also for SAP Design Studio Generic Analysis?

Information about our system:

SAP BW 7.4 SP07 on HANA

SAP Design Studio 1.6 SP1 (for NetWeaver)

SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.2 SP02

Best regards,

Sebastian

Hello,

I compared the traces for Design Studio and Analysis. Unfortunately, I can't find the problem.

In both all authorization checks are successful.

Is Design Studio looking at the authorization objects for the views in the trace?

No, it is not. When opening the role queryfolders the authorization objects "S_RS_COMP" and "S_RS_COMP1" are not checked. But neither are they checked when using Analysis for Office or BEx Analyzer. I think they are only checked when executing a query.

It might be worth opening an incident with SAP Support; Design Studio should treat the authorizations the same. Very strange to me.

All right, thank you, just did that.

I will update here if I get a solution.

This is interesting; would it be possible to run an STAUTHTRACE back in BW when the users are running Analysis vs Design Studio and then compare the security traces?  Sounds like RZOWNER is being ignored in Design Studio.

Hi Tammy,

thank you for your fast response.

Unfortunately, when running Design Studio I don't get any entries in STAUTHTRACE.

Sebastian - that is strange.  So it appears that Design Studio is ignoring the BW authorizations?  That is why users can see all views (when they should not)?

Sorry - I made a mistake in the trace selection.

STAUTHTRACE and ST01 are working.

I will compare Design Studio vs. Analysis and come back here.
