Issue with the latest DS Client

Hi !

We just upgraded to DS Client 1.6 SP2 Patch 1 from SP1 Patch 2.

With SP1 Patch 2 all was Ok...

With this new patch, we run into the following error:

The logs say:

Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method com.sap.ip.bi.base.application.environment.ICapabilityService.isSupported(com.sap.ip.bi.base.application.environment.SystemCapability) of a null object returned from com.sap.ip.bi.base.application.service.IServiceResourceDescription.getCapabilityService()

  at com.sap.ip.bi.bics.dataaccess.resource.impl.bi.queryview.ProviderQvStructure.supportsNewRestrictions(ProviderQvStructure.java:378)

  at com.sap.ip.bi.bics.dataaccess.consumer.impl.queryview.restriction.QvRestrictionCapabilities.supportsNewRestrictions(QvRestrictionCapabilities.java:93)

  at com.sap.ip.bi.bics.dataaccess.consumer.impl.base.StateDomSerializer.serializeQvStructure(StateDomSerializer.java:2027)

Please help advise...

Does it happen only locally?  On a certain browser?  Does it work on another machine?  Are you deploying to BI platform?  What is the data source?

Thanks a ton for your response

Please find below the answers:

1. We have only tried in Local mode because we are testing the DS client first and we ended up with errors   we will only upgrade our BO Server (with the BI Addon) when we see this issue resolves.

2. We tried both Chrome and IE 11 and both end up in error.

3. We tried to install the DS Client SP2 Patch 1 on another machine and it failed there too...
 

4. BEX query is the data source.

5. We did not see any errors or issues connecting to HANA via ODBC connection and the DS application worked perfectly.

We were able to connect to BEX with no problems in local mode using the DS Client 1.6 SP1 Patch 2.  but we were unable to execute the same via BI Launch pad.  SAP suggested us to upgrade to the latest version and we ended up errors

Please please please help...

We finally got this sorted out.

The backend BW system was at a lower release
