BEx Input Query Designer

Hello BEx Experts,

Our Input Query does not work. The idea of this query is to correct manually the data, which was wrongly added into our BW. For this, we have a Multiprovider and an (Complex) Aggregation Level. The Cube, which we want to save the corrected data by Input Query, is set up as Real Time. The respective fields are set as input ready in the Query Designer.

Just as an example, we would like to have a Input query, which enables changing either the Amount and the Project.

ProjectAmount
A100
B200

Our questions are:

1) We would like to have a Input Query to change the Key Figures and Characteristics, showing in a dropdown list, where the user could choose, according to the master data. Is it actually possible to change the characteristics in the input query, as well?

2) Is it necessary to have a Planning function for that or a BEx Input is already enough?

3) Could you help us to find where is the problem?

Many thanks in advance,

Luiz Fiuza

for "changing" the characteristics you have to copy the values to the Input line at the end of your query and set the original key figures to zero.  After that you could change the chars in the newly added line and save. If you compress the cube afterwards with zero Elimination you have done something wich is nearly similar to changing the chars.

With a little VBA  you could support your user a little bit more...

Hi Loed,

I think you would also be competent enough to answer 😉

@Luiz - changing the char in a query is not possible.

You would need to change the key figure for one char value to 0 and then put the value to the right char value.

You could do this with a rebooking function.

For the input readiness of the query, the secret is - put EVERY char that is in your aggregation level into the query. For each cell it has to be a single selection, meaning, each char should be either:

  • selected to single value in filter or
  • used in rows or
  • used in columns or
  • used with single selection in a restricted key figure

and remember, that info provider and units are also characteristics and need to be used and set to single selections.

It was really helpful, thank you Cornelia. The problem was that we didnt have all the chars in the query.
