    Hi Vivek,

I really don't have the idea about the extra 't' replacing the 'space' in between the words. When I counted the length of the sentence, the 'space' which is replaced by 't' is the 40th character. But, I'm not sure about what's happening here. I have tried to replicate the same. But, I was not able to reproduce the issue.

But, you can check below SAP notes on long text.

0001733304 QP02: Long text of characteristic removes blank characters

0001262059 Unnecessary formatting characters in short text

0001388221 Long text: Display of SAPscript control chars in short text

    Let us know the results.

Are you using a custom exit or something to take the inspection text and copy it to the long text? inspection Text is limited to the first 30 characters I thought, maybe it's 40. So how are you getting long text without a user going into it and typing it in? In which case, it wouldn't be system doing this?

From what Dipeshkumar indicated above about the 40th character, I wonder if this could be a custom exit that isn't quite right.

Is the extra character always a "T"? Is always the same as the 41st character? The 39th?

What if you have a description longer then 80 characteristics. Is another "T" inserted at the 80th position?

If so, this is probably due to a "one off" error in a loop or maybe an operand. Using a < instead of <= for instance.

    • I'd put that into OSS. I would guess it's an error somehow in the conversion from MS Word text into the SAP database long text. Long text is stored as 40 character segments in the datebase. So it looks like somehow it gets corrputed when the data is reformatted for SAP.

In the example you gave above, the 39th character should actually be a space I believe. In the second example you gave, the 39th character is the n in "something". I wonder if this conversion issue happens anytime the last character of a 40 charater string is a space or something like that. It might somehow be counting wrong or something. May on the first 40 characters it's counting in some type of hidden paragraph character or something.

You could experiment with different length strings and see what happens. We don't have Word as an editor on our system so I can't try it.
