Using MSAD as Data Source for UME in SAP Portal

Hello All,,

Is it possible to use MSAD to be Data Source in SAP Portal in UME?

I know it is possible to configure LDAP and SAP Portal UME.

We are not using LDAP.

For a list of currently certified products that you can use, please see:

Link "Integration Services --> Recently Certified Solutions"

Link "SAP Application Development partner directory"

Field "Search Partner or Keyword": BC-LDAP-USR

In this hit list, click the name of the required partner.

Button "SAP Certified Solutions"

The column "Solution Interface Software" contains the name of the certified product.

Just a thought.

Is it possible to create a datasource configuration file similar to the one

for MS ADAM (see SAP note: 1016176 ); You can download the configuration file and try to adapt it.

Not sure whether this will work; but please do have a look.

As I can see the only way to use MSAD as Data source for Portal UME is LDAP protocol.

I hope that was another way.

In that case, can't you use SAML? PLease see:

Sorry i can't think of anything else; this seems to be the best option.

All supported datasources are mentioned in SAP Note  718383 - NetWeaver: Supported UME Data Sources and Change Options.

For ear deployment, just follow SAP Note 1715441 .

MS AD uses LDAP for User / Group related stuff, so yes, you can integrate it just like any other LDAP. I think you will need to have SSL active if you want write access from UME.

My problem is WE donot using LDAP. We have just MSAD server.

Is it possible the Portal UME use MSAD with out LDAP as data Source?

The user / groups that are managed by AD use LDAP as protocol. So MS AD wouldn't work without LDAP. It should be possible to connect ume with that. Have you even tried it?

I have befor tried to use LDAP protocal and it is working.

My senario is I have a customer that not using LDAP and want to use MSAD as data source.

I am tring to find out at if it is possible.

My customer using ADFS and I do not konw if ADFS is the same as LDAP.
