BW Publisher Service Missing with BODS installation

Dear All,

We have Installed BODS(4.2), BO(4.2), BW(740) on 3 different server.

What we need is to extract external data to BW using BODS.

Our problem here is "BW Publisher Service" is missing when BODS is installed on a stand alone server(not same server with BO), so we are unable to establish a connect between BODS and BW.

Is there any way to get "BW Publisher Service" back, or is there other way to establish to connection between BODS & BW server?

  Please advise, thanks !!!

Have you installed IPS and Data services on a standalone machine.

BW Publisher is a broadcasting feature of the SAP BW platform, the BW Publisher service in BusinessObjects allows you to run the Crystal Rpeorts from your SAP BW workbench GUI and have the results copied to your BusinessObjects platform instead of having them only available in your SAP BW system/platform.

Can you check with SAP Support Team if SAP BW Publisher service gets installed only when you are deploying Data services on BOE Platform

Can you please help

Dear Arun,

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply.

Yes, we have installed IPS prior installing the Data Services; after installation, we tried to look into the server registry profile:

<HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> SOFTWARE --> Wow6432Node --> SAP BusinessObjects--> Suite XI 4.0 --> SAP --> BW Publisher Service>

[BW Publisher Service] directory is missing, so we are unable to register a program id in BW SM59 to establish the communication between 2 servers

Would request you to raise a SAP Support Ticket with SAP Team and check.

They would be able to suggest

Dear Arun,

We have already created an incident a week ago but the corresponding support team had no idea what we were talking about and it's been transferred from one team to the other without any helpful suggestion.

Can you please help me out on this one ? thanks~

Strange!! What is the thing they are not understanding about.

Do you see the BW Publisher service option in Central Configuration Manager on the IPS platform. Below link might be useful. I didnt find any other useful information

Dear Arun,

Thanks for your reply again !!

The support team called up and told us this is not "BO" issue but rather a "BW" issue then just transferred it to BW support team....i can imagine it's gonna take a few more days.....

Anyway, YES we have read through this very useful document that you provided, that's exactly what we did when we have BO & BODS installed on the same server and it's the only case we do see BW Publisher service option in Central Configuration Manager.

While BODS was being installed standalone, BW Publisher service just disappeared in CMC and neither you can find the patch in the windows registry (<HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> SOFTWARE --> Wow6432Node --> SAP BusinessObjects--> Suite XI 4.0 --> SAP --> BW Publisher Service(Missing)>)

Shall I installed the BODS back with BO server ? I heard it's better to separate them 2 since there won't have conflicts upon upgrading/patching.

Better to install BODS on a separate server.
