Notification created from Defects recording. Missing Sales Org in Notification

When creating a notification from defects recording we are not able then to change the notification afterwards (i.e. via QM02) as the system then issues the message IM752 : missing Sales Org.

However, these values are maintained in the personal default settings for the user. When looking at the table QMEL it is indeed shown the values for Sales Org, Division etc are not in this specific notification.

It seems, these personal defaults are not picked up when user creates notification from defects recording. When user creates notification via QM01 these default values are picked up correctly.

Anyone any idea how to resolve this?

Regards, H

Did you change the standard notification type configured for the inspection type?

What inspection type are you creating these defect records for?

to yr first question : yes. A 'home made' not.type has been allocated to the inspection type.

Yr 2nd question: inspection type is 01 (goods receipt).

Can you share what problem direction you were thinking about?

As I see it now, we have allocated the correct not.type to the insp.type and defaults (personal) are set as well correctly.

The standard notification type for 01 inspection lots is an F2, complaint against vendor.

If the notification is asking for a Sales Org  how would it find one on an 01?  It should be asking for the Purchasing Org if anything which should come from the purchase order that created the inspection lot.

Since it's asking for a Sales Org, it sounds like the home grown notification was built by copying the F1 notification, complaint from customer.

If the notification was built from scratch and screen from the F1 was used, the sales org may have been set as required field.  You wouldn't normally have a sales org for an inspection type of an 01 inspection origin.

Also, if you used PID's for this, PID's only work if the program has been written to check them.  Not all programs in SAP utilize them.  I doubt that defect notifications have as the system is expecting the data to be populated from the linked documents such as the PO or the Sale Order.  So unless you included a development to execute at notification creation time, I wouldn't expect the notification to use the PID values.  Especially if it is value that SAP was expecting to come from a linked document and not the user.  If I was developing this, I would have expected sales org to always come from a linked sales order.  Not from a user's setting.

PS> Keep in mind defects recording are totally different programs than what QM01 uses.
