To convert Double byte character into single byte

Hi All,

I have a description field coming from JDE which has a few values in Chinese ,for instance ßÁ)'ëÜé/â?ßË<M<déCâ2â1â0+¿ which needs to be converted into English language using BODS.

Is there any BODS function to perform the Double byte to single byte conversions??

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Sindhura Thota

    Hi Sindhura,

Could you try with cast function in DS which explicitly converts an expression from one data type to another :

    Syntax - Cast('<expression>','<data_type>')

Refer attached Cast type compatibility matrix for more details as per DS documentation:

Couldn't get your second query - could you please elaborate in detail ?

From what I understand you're looking for Chinese character support( Correct me , if wrong). Refer below blog posts in that case -

Loading special characters from a flat file to target table

Data Integrator example - Enterprise Information Management - SCN Wiki

I want to put my query in a different way.

My source is JDE table and my target is a text file loaded from a staging table.

The description field in my JDE source is in chinese language which needs to be read in an understandable format in the flat file.

To do that, Am i supposed to change any properties in the flat file which is my target? or the staging table properties?
