Complication in running change of a product BOM

I have a product which has a manufacturing BOM. Now there is a running change in this product. Some child parts will be replaced by new one.

Since it is a running change, old parts will be used till stock is consumed and all new ordering to sub contractors should be as per the new BOM.

If we change the BOM with new child parts then old part will not be consumed and if we do not change the BOM then with each MRP run system will generate shortages of old parts to vendor.

Please help me out on this.

    On tab MRP4 of the material master you can define a follow-up material and then a date for the discontinuation.
