Users/Security Synchronization between HANA and Business Object

Hi,

We are currently using BW on HANA system, with Business Object as reporting layer. The users and data security is maintained in BW system and transferred to HANA. Similarly BObj folder level security is synchronized with BW roles. Certain roles from BW are imported into Business Object. The imported roles (called groups in BObj) are then assigned folder level rights.

Now we are shifting to set up users/data security in HANA directly. For that, we would create some HANA roles and assign those roles to users in HANA itself. In such case, could any one suggest how can we sync BObj security with HANA roles? Can we import pre-defined HANA roles into Business Object and use them as groups? Or is there any other work around available?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Nitesh Gupta

    Hello,

no, there is no such option available in HANA as in BW. In order to maintain the Data security in your Front- End, you should create a trust between BI and HANA. You do this with the HANA Plug- In under Applications within the CMC.

So each BI User get a HANA User "assigned". In that way you maintain the Data security. Please check the BI Administrators Guide for a How To.

Nevertheless as you use a BW on HANA scenario, i would stick to your setup and use the BW and data source instead of HANA directly. All your logic and security setup is applied on BW level. Why re- creating it again on HANA Level?!
