Service Cannot be Reached

Former Member

Hi All,

I apologize if my question is a little simple - I am new to the SAP world but trying to learn fast..

Problem:

I am able to log into my EBP 4.0 instance but if I choose something from the left hand menu (eg: "manage user data") I get an error (service cannot be reached). I know the problem - the url that has been "assembled" is wrong. It assembles the url as follows:

.../scripts/wgate/bbpusermaint/!

It "should" assemble like this:

.../sap/bc/gui/sap/its/bbpusermaint/!

if I manually enter the url as it should be, it seems to work ok

Any ideas on how I resolve this problem will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for helping an old dog learn a new trick...

Hi Daly,

If you use integrated ITS, you have to activate settings in transaction SICF.

Internal ITS status can be monitored through SITSPMON.

Kind regards,

Yan -

Thanks for the quick reply...I am not sure i understand...I verified that my services are running (SICF) and I also know they are running because I can manually enter the URL and everything seems to be working. My problem is the way that the SRM server is assembling the URL when I choose something from the left hand menu.

I checked out the transaction SITSPMON and I could see things are working o.k. I think that I am just missing a table entry that "tells" SRM server what the url should look like...

I hope this makes sense - I appreciate any help you might be able to offer...

Hello Daly,

I don't know if table TWPURLSVR is still relevant for integrated ITS, but there is an entry to define BSP server:port and protocol.

Maybe "old" ITS path is taken if no entry is maintained for BSP.

Can you check and give a feeback ?

Hello,

When services are active in SICF, published to internal ITS and Internal its refreshed with sitspmon, ... should work.

Do you have any info in SM21 ?

No info on SM21 as far as I can tell...

I think you are correct - but I don't know the transaction to use to publish to internal ITS?

Does it matter that I had to mannually start the services via SICF?

Again - sorry for the basic questions but I am trying to understand.

Thanks Pierre

Thanks for the reply - TWPURLSVR is still relevant but my problem is not with the server:port and protocol (those are correct), is with the rest of the content of the assembled URL.

BTW: I did check and verify the table you mentioned...

Hello,

Just run report SIAC_PUBLISH_ALL_INTERNAL for the publication of all services to the internal ITS.

Table TWPURLSVR should have entries for the BSP server line (as mentioned by Christophe)as well as gui and web server.

Could you please review again the following steps ?

Did you check that ICM was working correctly (TA SMICM) ?

1-Activate the necessary ICF services

With transaction SICF and locate the

services by path

/sap/public/bc/its/mimes

/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui

2- Publish the IAC Services

With Transaction SE80 locate from

the menu Utilities -> Settings ->

Internet Transaction Server (Tab) ->

Publish (Tab) and set “On Selected

Site” = INTERNAL.

3- Locate the Internet Services SYSTEM and WEBGUI.

Publish these services with the Context

Menu -> Publish -> Complete Service

4- Browse to http://<server>:<icmport>/sap/bc/gui/

sap/its/webgui/! and login to the

webgui.

Yann

o.k. I am almost there...

1. Confirmed TWPURLSVR is correct

2. Did you check that ICM was working correctly (TA SMICM) ? <-wasn't sure what you meant / how to do this

3. Verified ICF Services Active

4. Published the IAC Service with On Selected Site="INTERNAL" (note:this was not set so I made the setting)

5. Could not locate either internet service via SE80 and was not sure where else to look for them.

6. Problem still exists

I appreciate the assistance.

Problem Solved! Reference Note: 851940

Please process the following steps:

1) Start transaction SICF and navigate to the following:

default_host->sap->bc->gui->sap->its->bbpstart

2) Double click on bbpstart then click on the Settings button

3) Make sure the BBP_ITS_URL parameter is there and have been set to the value /scripts/wgate. If the parameter is missing, add it and set the value.

4) If make any change, make sure to save the change
