Hi to everyone,
did one of this community already try to monitor the BI Platform or the Crystal Server Application with Dynatrace? If so, could you be so kind and tell me where you put the Dynatrace agents and if this brought some return to you.
Thanks a lot
Regards
Tobias
The dynaTrace agents have to be installed on the Business Objects servers. There is a dynaTrace agent showing under Programs and Features. (We run Business Objects on Windows Server 2012.) I didn't do the install, we have a separate support team for dynaTrace here.
There is value for us in that by using dynaTrace, the monitoring is integrated into other monitoring and reporting tools that we use without us having to do configuration within Business Objects. You also gain the benefits of the dashboard options in dynaTrace where the visual options in Business Objects monitoring is limited.
There may also be some advantage to using dynaTrace from a performance aspect as you wouldn't have to run so many watch lists on the Business Objects servers. I'm not sure how you would measure this though.
