How to create a standard file template to load the data in BW

Hi Experts,

I have a requirement in which different users are going to sent their financial statement in file format. We are having around 10 users from different geography.

The challenge is they are not using the standard format to fill the details. Hence could you please suggest how we could achieve this in BW and how can we load all these 10 files with one standard template, one option is via macros in excelsheet but not sure if tomorrow some changes happened to Excel we will have challenge.

We are using sap BI 7.3 version.

Hence could you please suggest the best strategy to approach.

Thank You,

Reena

    Hello,

One more option will be input ready query where user can save data via excel sheet directly in the real time cube.

    • Hi Anand,

This is at the very first level of BW. They wanted to rebuild their reporting into BW earlier they were using the Hyperion system.

we will be getting the financial statements in the formats of file from different users and on the basis on that we have build the data model in BW.

      Hope this is clear.

      Regards,

    Hello Reena,

BW provides two "standard" ways to integrate files into providers :

    1. datasource plugged file source system, allows extraction of file with infopackage and then general dataflow. Generally it is a challenge to handle multiple files at same time
    2. input ready query or file upload web interface (see well known "HowTo") with Integrated Planning technology. It allows user to manage its own data and scope. Real time providers are used in this case. Multiple files are not a problem as each user manages its data, each session is isolated and parallel access to the provider is possible (lock management on specific scope)

One common way to handle multiple in case of solution 1 is to handle loop mechanism in process chain until a specific folder gets empty.

Other possibility is to replace the extraction layer by a specific abap program which consumes all the files of a folder and then updates a "Direct Update ODS" (ODS not filled via dataflow but via RSDRI interface). Then depending on your case, you can flow the data by triggering process chains... or waiting batch night. You can also plug a generic datasource on active table of the ODS if you want to flow the data in the upward dataflow.

    Hope it helps,

    Regards,

    Christian
