MRP view in material master to explode BOM in Subcontracting

Why is it necessary to maintain MRP view in material master to explode BOM automatically while making subcontracting order?

Hello,

The only fields in MRP view which will affect the subcontracting procurement is

1) type of procurement (internal, external or both)

2) Special procurement in MRP 2 tab.

Hi,

Create a material without MRP views and maintain BOM for material. Now create subcontract PO and complete subcontracting  process to find the difference between material with MRP views and material without MRP views for subcontract PO process!

Dear Ruchika Sahu,

If you have an purchasing document with special procurement (for example, subcontracting or consignment), you must have entered the corresponding special procurement key in the material master(MRP2 view, field Special procurement).

This is the prerequisites for automatic source determination in the requirements planning and BOM

explosion.

If you would like to have subcontracting requisitions generated by MRP with the BOM explosion during the MRP run, you must define the respective special procurement key on tab MRP2 of the material master.

Not necessary to maintain the MPR view to explode BOM at sub contracting PO, maintain the bom with item category, while creating po you can see in material tab and click on explod bom

When I tried doing this it shows that no new BOM for explosion as well as in components tab I cannot see anything.

But when I add MRP views to the components as well as final material and then maintain BOM I can see the BOM data in the components tab.

Please help!!!

are you properly maintained the item category while creating the bom in cs01

can you share your screen shot while creating bom

Hi Ruchika,

If you would like to determine item category "L" automatically while create Purchase order, if you would like to select alternate bill of materials while create Purchase order and if you would like to plan the material via MRP then you've to maintain MRP views in the material master otherwise not required.

Create a material without MRP views and do a testing. This will give you better understanding.

If the MRP views is the only thing that was missing  show the BOM components  in a PO, then you better tell what fields you maintained in the MRP view.

Dear Ruchika,

MRP view is not necessary for automatic determination of BOM in sub-contracting process. Material BOM alone is enough to trigger the component materials when creating a sub-contracting PO. MRP view is required when you want to automate the purchasing process through MRP run.
