SAP BPC- BPF all intances must open

Former Member

Dear All,

I have a requirement where business requested to keep open all the activities open in an instance in BPF. For example: In BPF, I have an instance, in which I have 4 activities. Business needs all this 4 activities should be always open. Currently, I am forced to change the status to 'complete' of an activity so the the next activity is enabled for further process. As usual step by step process is enabled.

Whereas I need to keep all the activities open simultaneously within an instance. Could you please help.

I am using SAP BPC 10.0 NW

Thanks,

Rafik B

Hello Rafik,

It's not possible. BPF functionality is to finish activities one by one with sequence. Without completing one activity BPF wont allow next activity to perform.

Thanks a lot Raja! This is what I too thought.

But I see there are number of BPFs are in open state always. Before I was inducted to this project, people who worked were managed to execute this. The same way business has requested me to execute.

I see in one instance, 4 activites are always open. Also, the status is not completed but it is waiting for finaliation. I was surprised to see this, but I couldnt execute the same way.

Since it was already in place, I must execute this new requirement. Please help.

Thanks,

Hi Rafik,

Have you tried using the Opening Criteria " MATCHED"?? Please note for this criteria all the 4 activities should have the same process context and the only after first step completion will the others 3 be automatically opened.

Please refer below link for more info....

Criteria for Opening Activities - SAP Business Planning and Consolidation, version for SAP NetWeaver...

If you already have the instances with all open activities then please investigate the process template for the right settings!

Thanks JP,

Yes I tried already the 'Matched' option but still the activities are enabled one by one. They are not getting opened simultaneously. I checked all the settings in Process Template, Instances, Process Monitor. I couldn't find anything so that I can execute this requirement.

However, earlier team to whom I do not have any contact, have completed this and I see atleast 7 BPF is different models are like this. Wondered how come they accomplished this. It is like all activities open in an instance, process were not in completed state (0/4) and status is awaiting finalization.

Really I have very less time to complete this, but don't know how can I do this.

Please help.

Hi Rafik....Thats not possible....You are doing something wrong while executing....Please share the screenshots of what you are doing and of the process instance which has all 4 steps opened(process template)

Is the process context same for all the activities???

Hi JP,

Yes the context is same for all the activities. Just we have set of different hyperlinks to it. I am sharing screenshot which shows all activities open in one instance.

I exactly followed the same way, this BPF was executed. But still mine is not all activities enabled.

Thanks a lot,

Hi Rafik....This is really strange! With All criteria the all the steps should not be in OPEN state except the first one! This is not possible!! I don't know how the people before have done this....might be a bug! But it is surely not possible in BPC 10 to my knowledge!

Yes JP,

I was surprised like anything when I saw that. Anway the situation is, I cannot tell them that, this is not pssoible. They will show the existing setup. No blogs / help sites have answers for this as of now.

Let me wait for more experts to provide their inputs. Thanks a lot JP & Raja for your valuable inputs.

Thanks,

Rafik B
