Missing Report Descriptions in Crystal Report

Problem Statement:

Crystal Reports are maintained as .rpt file and imported into customer BusinessObjects environment using Java SDK. Similarly WebI reports are maintained as .biar file and imported into customer environment using Java SDK. These canned reports don’t have any description, so customer not able to understand the report usage and recommended filter limitations.

Expectation:

Is there a way to store report description information in .rpt / .wid file itself during report development?

For .wid there is an option in BI lauchpad -> Right Click ->Properties.

Do we have similar option for Crystal Reports. Or it can accompalished by some JAVA SDK.

Hi Rakesh,

Yes, we have an option in Crystal Reports designer it self..go in File Menu-- Summary Info. -- In the summary tab you can give detailed information what is this report all about.

Also you can create a formula and place it on report header or footer to display this information.

Create formula , put the required text in double or single cots.

Ex:

"This report will display monthly sales "
