R/3 Classification System: integration with MDM?

Former Member

I understand that R/3 classification system class/characteristic values for material are not (standard) able to be downloaded to MDM.

Can anyone confirm?

Also, has anyone done custom development to send R/3 classification system information to MDM? If so, was this a "big" effort & can you describe how this was accomplished?

Thank you.

I believe that you are correct. The delivered data models (which are really just starting points) don't include any structures for characteristics/values. Also the normal extrator program for material don't include these as well. Going back to ALE the material was a separate object from the classification itself. However in ALE it was possible to send both in a two step process.

Since you do have extraction objects (At the least you would use BD93 to send the actual classification assignments - however you may also need BD92 - Classes and BD91 Characteristics to get all the supporting information), it is theoretically possible to extended your products repository with structures for the classification and then create a custom import to popuplate it. However I have not actually attempted this.
