Hi Guys,
I created cascading dynamic parameters in Crystal and it works fine. However when I try to publish the report to Business Objects, I get an error message, Report Application Server failed. Could you please let me know how to run cascading dynamic parameters in Business Objects.Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks and regards,
Ashwin Jayagopal
Hi Ashwin,
First, make sure Crystal Reports Designer and BI Enterprise are on the same patch level.
Next, ensure all required firewall ports are open for communication.
If that doesn't help, assign a port (between 6402 & 6500) for the RAS Server and open this port for communication in the Firewall.
Please have a look at the Admin Guide here:

Hi Abhilash,
The issue persists. Now I am unable to save the report using any virtual server to Business Objects. The issue occurs only when I have cascading dynamic parameters. I am able to generate the report just fine in Crystal. I am able to save the report to Business Objects when I do not use dynamic parameters but not when I have cascading dynamic parameters. Is this issue common? We are using SAP Business objects BI Launch Pad and Crystal Reports 2011. Please help us regarding this. We are unable to find any solution to solve this issue.
Hi Ashwin,
You'd first need to make sure the version, SP and patch levels of CR and the BI Platform match.
Next, open Business View Manager and explicitly assign rights to the user (who's trying to save the report) on the Data Connection.
Another way to do this is to create the LOV in BVM > Assign rights to users at all levels (Data Connection, Data Foundation et al) > Use the LOV/LOV prompt group in the Dynamic prompt in report > Save report.

Hi Ashwin,
I'm not sure what you mean by "We do not have Business Objects Enterprise".
You also say "We are using SAP Business Objects BI Launch pad"
The BI LaunchPad is part if the CR Server/BO Enterprise platform.
Business View Manager is part of the Client Tools offered by the BI Platform - you'll need to download it from the Service Market Place. Client Tools are available in the same download section as the Server Product.

Hi Abhilash,
Thank you so much Abhilash. The issue finally got resolved. You were absolutely right. The issue was related to access rights. After the admin assigned me admin rights and also added implicit privileges I was able to save the dynamic parameters to Business Objects. Thanks a million. We would not have been able to resolve this issue without your help.
Regards,
Ashwin
