significance of outbound and inbound SI

Hello Experts,

We have a running Async interface Proxy to File.

What i observed is in the OM the sender and receiver interface is "Outbound " ,  and this is already running fine in Prod.

How is this working ? we are suppose to have one inbound and one outbound ?

What is the significance of inbound and outbound then ?

Well this could be the case that when the Operation Mapping was built the Service Interface was defined as Inbound and then later changed as a Outbound Interface without updating the OM.

The OM is just a container for your mapping steps and the Inbound Service Interface used is of no real significance! This would continue to work until you make a change in the OM, then correspondingly your Integration Directory configuration would also need to be updated.
