Universe connection from Dev to QA during Promotion

Hi All,

During promotion ,I have promoted reports and Universes from Dev to QA for first time.

My query is,

1.Is the universe connection working fine in QA or do we need to manually re point the connection in QA ?

2.If your answer is yes how to re point to connection in QA ?

3.Also I heard that for first time we need to manually re point the connection in QA and for second time during promotion from Dev to QA we need to enable the override option in Dev ,so that no need to re point the same in QA.

Kindly help me over my concern.

Thanks

Ram

When you are moving universe first time then move with connection in QA.

open the designer and edit the connection and update the QA details.

If next time is there any requirement to move universe then no need to move connection again.only move universe.

If you are moving the Universe and connection for the first time to QA environment, then after promotion you need to open the designer and re-point the Connection pointing to Dev database to QA database (obviously after the promotion Process).

Now let say you need to promote the same universe from dev to QA again after few days then you don't need to migrate the connection for that universe, neither you need to change the connection settings (unless there is a change in database connection, username or password)
