Hello Steve,

Quality info record is agreement between Vendor, Plant and Material i.e. with this vendor what is the quantity we can receive if the quality is good and till what time we can receive the material and what is the quality system vendor is using we can define

But

Quality plan is the master record saying that how to inspect and what to inspect for the receiving materials with Master inspection characteristics

the quality plan may varies from vendor to vendor or customer in that situation we will create multiple group counters in the same plan with that group counter material assignment we will assign this plan is applicable to so and so vendor

Venkatesh..

I'm not totally sure I understand your question.

The objects are two completely different objects with no influence on each other.

Q-info records are used for QM/procurement intergration.

Inspection Plan assignments are used to determine the plan to apply to inspect a particular type of inspection lot.

Hi Steve,

Vendor in Q-Info Record:

The Quality Information record is used to have control on procurement process. In simple word, if you want the vendor to supply the material to a particular plant then you create QI record. Then only the system allows you to create a purchase order for the material, plant and vendor combination.

There are many more functionality of QI record. e.g. Source Inspection, Vendor Qualification etc.

Vendor in Inspection plan:

The vendor field in the inspection plan is used to have control on inspection of the material received from the specified vendor. e.g. if you have a material, for which, there are more then one vendor and different specification according to the vendors, then you can create multiple inspection plans specific to each vendor or combination of the vendors to inspection the material when received from a particular vendor.

The vendor field in used in inspection plans at many places and have different functionality. You have vendor field at material assignment, it can be used to create vendor specific inspection plan. You have vendor field at characteristic level to have additional control for DMR. You have vendor field at dependent characteristics to have vendor specific characteristic specification in a single inspection plan.

I hope you find the answers you are looking for.

They really aren't related in the sense that you don't need one to have the other and neither influence the other.

It's like saying an invoice is related to an inspeciton plan because they both use material numbers.

The vendor/mfg number used in plan assignments is utilized to assign specific plans to specific suppliers.  You can also use them to set up specific specifications for specific vendors that deviate from the general material specifications.  The inspection plan assignment has no affect ont he Q-info record.

The Q-info record can control a lot different things but is primarily used to control incoming inspection parameters for a certain vendors/suppliers.  But has no influence on the inspection plan selection. There are numerous help files available on the various fields and functionality of Q-infor records and there are a lot of threads out there on various aspects of the Q-info record.  If you have a specific question on, let us know.
