Refining Business Scenario Issue

Hi All,

Need your thoughts on the following business scenario and wanted to know the best possible ways of solution.

Scenario is as follows:

Let say

There is a material X (Finished Product) and this material is not available with the business and this material X will be supplied by the customer.

Now our business inspects the material and if they find the metal content in material X is not meeting their expectations they do their own refining process and compares the metal content value with material being supplied by the material.

if above is the scenario how do we integrate this in SAP

Quick Recap:

Lets say there is customer A who sends the material X to your plant and the business finds the material too rich or too poor in the metal content and they wanted to do the refining process again on X so how do we integrate.

At the moment we only have partial solution:

Create a sales order for the Customer A for material X

RUN MRP

MRP generates Pur.Req for Material X(This is a Finished Product)

Pur.Req to Pur.Ord Conversion.

Do the GR of the Material X

Stock is posted for that particular sales order(Unrestricted sales order stock).

As the business see there is a fault in the Material(X) they wanted to perform four different operations on it and out of each operation they will get new material finally you get Material X out of the four operations

So Material X undergoes Burning and you get Burnt material. and this burnt material undergoes milling operation and you get milling material and milling material undergoes split operation and get split material and split material undergoes final sampling operation and you get Material X again.

BOM structure is as Follows:

Material X has (Finished Product) operation Final sampling

            Material Y (1st level BOM)(Split material) operation Splitting

                 Material Z(2nd Level BOM)(Milling material) Operation Milling

                       Material XX (3rd level BOM)(Burnt material) Operation Burning

                                Material X(4th Level BOM)  (Finished Product)

The business wants to run MRP on the same sales order on which they have received the material X so that they perform the above production activities.

Is their a possibility to achieve the above scenario.

Please let me know if am not clear on any of the above explanation.

Hi mahee,

This can be achievable but how you are going to cost the finish product X as you have created the recursive bom.i  would suggest finished product  & 4 th level bom materail code should be differ.
