SAP B1 server with different IP addresses

Dear Experts,

one of our clients have a following network configuration: most of machines is in the ip-range#1, some of machines in ip-range#2, PC from ip-range#1 cannot access the PC in ip-range#2.

We have installed SAP B1 Server and assigned single ip from range#1 to server. Clients works fine for PCs from ip-range#1 and doesn't works for PC from range#2. Then we assign second ip-address to SAP B1 Server (with the single network card). Now computers from both ranges are able to access SAP B1 Server through explorer (for example access the B1_SHR folder), ping to SAP B1 Server is ok, name is resolving to correct ip, but when we are trying to connect to server with SAP B1 client, databases list is empty and there is error messages appears (like 'License Server general failure') on both machines from range#1 and range#2.

Is there any ideas what can be wrong?

Hi Alexander,

Two different IP ranges should not matter. Do you mean that you are using two different domains ? Is each IP range in its own domain ?

Hi Johan,

Thanks for your comment. Yes, I mean two subdomains in local network, each range in it's own domain.

Hi Alexander,

Okay, B1 does not work with two IP addresses / network cards, and it only allows connections from machines in the same domain.

I haven't tried this, so no promises, but you might be able to solve this by establishing a trust relation between the two domains. Please ask your network administrator about it.

Johan

Hi Alexander,

Can you try this.

Remove SAPSERVER from domain.

Add SAPSERVER to domain#1 ip range. DNS too.

Manually add the Domain#1 DNS to domain#2 client machines.
