Hi Experts,
Our business team wants to change the number schema of export lists, existing schema doesn't have sufficient length to accommodate bigger ECCN numbers.
My question is, in order to have new schema created and assigned to legal regulation and making everything work the way it is working currently, what are the steps involved in this process?
I have broader idea of step, what I am looking forward for is detailed step by step process with transaction code if possible, please let me know if I am expecting too much here.
Steps involved at broad level are
1) Create a new numbering schema
2) Upload the numbers to the schema
3) Assign the schema to legal regulation
4) Reclassification of products.
I will really appreciate any help on this.

Sourabh,
If your New numbering scheme is not going to be compatible with the old one you will not be able to use the standard conversion.
Below are the steps you need to follow:
Define the Numbering Scheme for Export lists - Go to SPRO - Global Trade Services - General Settings - Define Numbering Scheme for Exports
Once you do that - Maintain All the necessary ECCNs.
Once that is done upload the Classification numbers using - /SAPSLL/MAEX_UPLOAD_R3.
Now go to SPRO - Global Trade Services - General Settings -Assign Numbering Schemes to Legal Regulation of the Application Area - Assign the scheme for ECCN - here you have to update the numbering scheme along with the valid from date.
Please do let me know if anything is not clear. Thanks.

Hi Rajesh,
When I am finished defining numbering schema for export lists and go in GTS area menu for maintaining ECCN no., I noticed that the new schema I just created is not available there. Is there some other step to make it appear on Maintain ECCN no. screen dropdown.
Also how to assign validity to numbering schema, I didn't find it anywhere.
Really appreciate your help here.

Sourabh,
Not sure how you are trying to maintain the new ECCN.
Once you complete the numbering scheme setup - go to GTS menu legal tcode - COmpliance section - Classification/Master data- Maintain Export control classification numbers -Here you should be able to see the numbering scheme and select the one you want and click on maintain numbers.
Once you finish this then you can go to config general settings - there you will assign numbering sheme to legal regulation in the same Numbering scheme nodes.
Go to ECCN node and add the new entry with the new valid from date.
Once you do this you can upload the classification MAEX program.
Please do let me know if you see any issues. Thanks.

Sourabh,
Yes you can do that.
Also, Once you are done with that activity you will have to make the changes to the valid from date in the Assign numbering scheme to legal regulation node.
If you large volumes of data - use /SAPSLL/MAEX_UPLOAD_R3 program to upload the classifications.
Also, I have used standard functionality to move the data from one numbering scheme to another numbering scheme almost early 2012 but that is for customs classifications,
Check if that works for compliance classifications as well if yes I would recommend you to follow that process.
You can acces this one from System Monitoring - Technical checks tab.
Please do let me know if you need any further information. Thanks.

Hi Rajesh,
Thanks a lot for your reply,
Is it possible for you to list out all the steps involved in this process with t-codes, I am relatively new to GTS so have very little idea about this process.
Also in my case the structure of old and new number schemas is going to be different, main reason for changing number schema is to increase the length of number schema.
