The scenario is like this:
The client uses an in-house developed software where employee codes are assigned and other employee functions are managed. This software assigns Employee Code of more than 8 characters. We are creating Cost Center for each Employee in SAP in Dimension 5. But the Cost Center code column is restricted to 8 characters, so we use an incremental number as SAP code, and store the actual Employee Code in a UDF.
While recording AP Invoice and Journal Entry for expenses, the user has to allocate Employee against each GL line item. He has a ready reference sheet in Excel, which contains details of expenses by Employee Code. In this sheet, the Employee Code mentioned is the one which is assigned by their in-house software.
While entering the data in AP Invoice, in the Dimension 5 Choose From List, he needs to find the SAP code for the Employee Cost Center based on the actual Employee Code. But the Choose from List does not even show the UDF even in Form Settings. In fact, the Form Settings button is disabled in the List of Distribution Rules choose from list.
The requirement is to display the UDF in this window, so that he can search the SAP code based on the actual Employee Code.
I tried creating a UDF in the Cost Center as well as the Distribution Rule. Still the Form Settings button is disabled.
What solution can I suggest?
