Report writing question

Hi,

I have a requirement which I believe will be two reports on one sheet. The idea is to show fixed assets by entity (rows) and flows (column). For each fixed asset category (buildings, machinery, etc) we have two accounts, one for the cost and one for the depreciation. The requirement is to show one category per line in the report.

So the green area would be one set of accounts and the orange would be another set of accounts. The report also needs to be dynamic, i.e. hide empty rows.

I could create this as two static reports but is there a way to create it as two dynamic reports with the second reading the account to be used from a property of the account in report one?

Thanks,

Arnold

But why not to put account in the column axis? You will have single report...

Please provide accounts and members of Flow dimension

Hi Vadim,

please see this example:

Account11, Account21 are the cost accounts and Account12, Account22 are the depreciation accounts.

Ups, now it's clear! The idea to use different accounts for cost and depreciation and for each category looks not ideal...

It's better to use additional dimension.

P.S. "two dynamic reports with the second reading the account to be used from a property of the account in report one" - I don't think you can achieve this goal...

Thanks, I didn't build this model, I inherited it so not a lot I can do about the use of dimensions (we have several years worth of data).

Guess I will have to manually create the report in a static way.

How do you select list of accounts for the first report (cost)?

I have a total account that I can use which includes just the cost accounts. I also have a second total account for just the depreciation accounts.

Only VBA to hide empty rows... in AFTER_REFRESH
