Links are not working in ESS/MSS applications

Dear Experts,

We are using ESS/MSS (WDA) applications on SAP NW Portal. Recently we have upgraded our NW portal from 7.0 to 7.4.

In the upgrade portal we could see the overview page of ESS/MSS but the links are not responding when we click them.

Everything is fine in portal 7.0. Links are properly working there.

We have deployed all the necessary business packages related ESS/MSS, backend (HR system) connection is fine, required roles are assigned and everything looks fine.

We haven't changed anything in portal content for ESS/MSS applications as we moved it from 7.0 portal to 7.4.

Kindly advice if we are missing something/ if you came across similar situation.

Best Regards,

    Dear Manoj,

    Hope you are doing good.

    Many things to check here:

are the JCo destinations working fine? can you test them as per

    SAP Note 1544135.

If the page is not loading up, download the httpwatch tool (free from and send across the trace of this issue. Kindly note that the clicks are minimum when you take the trace and that you navigate to the error scenario and clear the browser cache before starting the "recording" activity (run this on server node 0, see SAP NOTE 1589567).

Finally increase the severity of the location "*" to DEBUG and reproduce the issue. You can create a custom location in the troubleshooting wizard using the guide in SAP KBA 1921472 - How to use the Troubleshooting Wizard for collecting traces using custom locations [VIDEO]. Check the below log for more about the issue:

    /usr/sap/<SID>/JC<nr>/j2ee/cluster/server0/logs/default trace (latest).

    Kind Regards,

    • Dear Hemanth,

      1) JCo destination are fine

      2) when we were analyzing the issue with httpwatch tool, we found that "its hitting the backend and stops' whereas in other environment, where ESS applications works fine, its hits back end and proceed further to call WDA applications.

All the necessary BPs are installed, protocols are properly maintained and all kooks fine.

Not sure where/what to start with to analyze the issue.

The trace file is too large to attach.
