Issue in SAP GUI 7.40 patch 7

Hi Team,

I am facing issue when trying to connect the system using connection type as "Group/Server selection".

When i am giving the entry, it is not detecting the message server host name. I have already updated the services file.

It is showing the error "NiHLGetNodeAddr' unknown".

I tried to replace the saplogon.ini file from other system, where it is running fine. I am getting error "Service '?' unknown.

Please suggest.

Regards,

Shyam

Hi,

Why dont you add it as custom application server or does it have to be load balanced?

If so is the necessary maintained in rz12 etc?

Kind Regards,

Johan

Hi Nicolaas,

Actually this option is used by functional consultant. We have created the group.

But while maintaining the entries, it is throwing the error.

Hi,

In my past experience here you will have to ensure that both servers/all server in group have the correct service entry maintained in services files.

Unix/Linux : /etc/services

Windows:C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Also ensure hosts can see other ping dns names as well.

Kind Regards,

Johan

Hi Nicolaas,

I have manually maintained the entries in services file.

But, after maintaining this also, couldnt resolve the issue.

Dear Shyam,

Hope you are doing good.

Please check if SAP Note  2077230 is applicable. Do apply the patch or the workaround mentioned.
Hope this helps.

Hi Hemanth,

Thanks for the reply.. This snote is applicable for Patch 0 and 1. We are already on patch 7.

Also, there is no entry maintained for SAP Router in SAPUILandscape.xml.

What else we can check to resolve this issue?

Shyam

Hi Shyam.

1.  From the client system are you able to ping the SAP host? I think you have to check the DNS resolution by either adding host enter or DNS.

2.  Check the firewall settings on client system refer the SAP KBA

2197751 - Various "long hostname/IP Address resolution time" problems in dev* trace

Hi Sriram,

Ping is working fine for all the servers. If i am selecting custom option, it is working fine for all the server.

When i am trying to use the option Group/Server selection, it is giving below error.

Please suggest.

Shyam
