Hi All,
I want to change a existing CKF, it is used in most of the queries, my question is does the changed CKF will get auto updated in all the formula selections where ever this CKF used or should i need to manually update the changed CKF.
My understanding is if i change a CKF , the changed formula will get updated in all the BEx queries where ever it is used, please suggest.
Regards,
Sharath
Hi Sharath,
The answer is ... may be.
For a definitive answer, one needs to understand the the difference between a formula and a "true " calculated key figure. The terms are commonly interchanged. It also doesn't help that they are both started the same way - in the formula function.
Formulas exist only in the query, and are not reusable.
If you save a formula with a technical name, it becomes a reusable object tied to the InfoProvider which can be used in multiple queries - a calculated key figure.
If a calculated key figure is changed, the change applies across all uses.
Look for a technical name in Query Designer in the formula to determine if it is a formula (single query only) or a calculated key figure. (reusable object.
Please don't forget to record your final solution and to mark the question as answered.
Good luck,
John Hawk

Hi Sharath,
Any change in any reusable element of a query(CKF, RKF, Structure, Variable etc) will automatically reflect wherever it is being used. No manual action is required .

HI Sharath,
If you change CKF it will impact other queries too.
If you want to change CKF in other queries then go for 'Formulae'.
