Approving a Leave cancelation during payroll lock

Hi experts,

I am using Fiori Approve Leave app.

During payroll lock, if the manager tries approving a new leave request, then he is thrown an error message saying "Payroll area XX is locked'. But if the manager tries to approve a cancelled/withdrawn request, it goes through. Why is this difference?

I checked the same through Tcode PTARQ, and the behavior is same. So problem is not with the Fiori app, rather with the ESS itself.

Any thoughts please?

becoz if he approves it will update in 2001 ..but if he rejects it will not take any action and will not  update in any 2001 absences  ...many threads are there related to this

Why do you think so?. This Leave is already there in 2001. So it has to delete from there.

here u have to check for which month leaves he is trying to approve ? the current month for which the payroll is processing ? as u said it has to delete from there if it deletes from there then that day will be considered as present for him and it will show in 2011 ...and here upon payroll lock system will not take any action for updation of master data records asa per SAP best practices

note that

It will not show the error message for leaves in the future ( beyond the payroll lock period )

If  there are quite a few leaves in SENT status for the past month when the payroll is locked.

Also as per the rule group customising View V_PTARQ_TPROCESS , if you have ticked the checked box " Check includes unposted leaves." So all the leaves in SENT status will also be included in the check etc

Please note that, check for which particular leave request and in which period, you are able to approve etc

as you mentioned ts working fine in PTARQ? correct?
