Load on the source systems when Smart Data Access fetch data (HANA studio)

Hello Friends,

I am trying to understand few things about HANA SDA.

1. Firstly if we try to use HANA Smart data access for real time reporting how much load will the fetching of data put on the source SAP systems ? The reason being our SAP system is vigorously used  during morning hours for production and any extra load on the system might cause delay in the production process. So we have to be very careful.

2.Secondly to be able to use Smart Data Access what is the lowest SAP ECC 6 service pack supported or does it matter at all cause we would be accessing the database directly ?

Best Regards

SDA can hardly be used for real time reporting. It can be used provided the data volume is trimmed down to very low.

you can google number of document on SDA query optimisation tips. below is my fav from ASUG. And one from Former Member

I would suggest, please create a PoC and test the load, else it is very hard to suggest you the load issue you will be going to have.

the base line is try to trim down the data and bring less data to HAHA everytime you query, Left Join etc..

Thanks Chandan, I have been discussing this with few of my colleagues and I have come to the conclusion that SDA will only be helpful for small amounts of data and is not for real-time reporting.

Yes you are totaly correct. So I have mentioned in my first statement, it can only handle very very less data volume, else it will cause system performance issue.
