GL code with two rate types - currency conversion

Former Member

Hi All,

We are implementing the legal consolidation 10.1 NW. I have a scenario, we have 10 entities having mulitiple rate types

like AVG,END and HIST types.

So, out of 10 entities 5 entities for one GL code having rate type HIST and another 5 entities having rate type END.

My question is that how can I do the traslation for this.

Example:          ENTIY 1 - 5        Entity 5 - 10

                           Rate Type       Rate Type

ID/Dec

Packaged Goods     HIST            END

In the above case how to handle to accomplish the currency conversion. Please advise me.

Regards,

Raja

Hi Rahul,

Thanks for your quick reply.

How can we give the two rate type(END&HIST) against the single GL code in the Account Dimension rate type property ?

Could you please guide me with an example.

Hello Rahul,

Thanks a lot for urs quick attention on this post.

I have one conern on this.

1. Historic Values

2. End Rate            for the same GL code.

In the Account dimention we will maintain rate type "END" as you said.

What about the Historic value for that GL Code for other set of Entitites. how the system will recognice? This mechanism I am not clear.

Please suggest me the way to proceed.

Hi Raja,

You can follow 2 approach:

1. update historic values for all entity for that gls - Here while doing currency conversion, system will first check the entity and FX TYPE property, and will consider historic values only for those entity where "AS_IS" is maintained and for other entities, system will look at the local currency and will convert the same at closing rate

2. update historic values only for that entity which will be converted at historic rate system will only look at the historic values for the entity for which it is maintained and for the rest of entity, system will look at local currency.

Hi Raja,

It's better to use two different GL for Entity 1-5 and 6 to 10 ,BPC not allowed multiple rate type for single GL,

Hi Khokan,

Agreed that you can not assign multiple rate type to single gl.

But you can have different entity specific conversion rule based on FX TYPE property.
