Creating an RRI from Design Studio to Webi

Hi all,

I have just received a requirement to be able to navigate from a custom Design Studio application to a pre-built Webi report through the BI platform. I understand that you are able to do this while using a BEx data-source; however the requirement also specifies that both the dashboard and the report should be based on a (admittedly different) BO Universe.

Unfortunately we have no chance of doing a POC piece on this, as our current BI platform does not support Design Studio; just curious to see whether anyone has had any success? I am assuming that this could theoretically be done via the 'openURL' API method within design studio, but the other question would regard passing the filters from one tool to another.

Thanks for the reply; I already understand that this can be possible through the RRI and the DS API method, specifically using NetWeaver and HANA deployments. However, I was unsure whether the same method could be applied to a scenario where you have the dashboard built upon BOBJ universes, and then being able to pass filters from Design Studio to WebI. I presume the approach would be similar, as you suggested.

Hi Phil,

The openDoc URL API approach should definitely work for launching a WebI report from a Design Studio app.  Filter values can be passed as URL parameters.
