Hello,

1.

Deploy the relevant version of the DI components:

DI_CMS, DI_DTR, DI_CBS & DI_NTY

2.

Configure through Configuration Wizard

Hello ,

You might use TELNET.

You might open TELNET connection to AS Java in one of the following ways...

1. Open TELNET connection to the server (eg: telnet <hostname>:<telnet port>) and login with a J2EE administrator user.

For telnet to work, user must be logged into the operating system, as remotely, it may not work.

(This is explained in note

1715441 - How to Deploy/Undeploy/Redeploy SCA/ SDA/ EAR/ WAR files on J2EE servers on Netweaver release:7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4 and 7.5)

or

2. You might open SAP MMC.

The node to which to open TELNET (click right button of the mouse).

Navigate: All Tasks >>> Telnet

You need to execute this command...

>deploy <path-to-the-SCA> version_rule=all

Please make sure there are no other (than NWDI's) SCAs in this folder. Otherwise the TELNET will deploy these as well.

Regards

P.S.: I hope you have not installed (nor you do plan to install) any of the PI/PO/XI related applications. Please note that DI & PI usage types should never be installed on the same server box. This causes performance problems.

Hi Milen,

Thanks for the information. Yes I'm installing DI on the existing XI system but this is a ITG box that is not used much. We have a big landscape & this is least used system.

right now the XI system is on NW 7.4 SPS 11. to install DI do I need to copy all the SCA files from SP02 till SP11 or just SP11 SCA files are enough for installation of this.

Please let me know your inputs & thanks again for the above information.

Best Regards,

Hello Avinash,

What you plan to do is not supported scenario. It does not matter when you do use much more. Even when it is started the PI consumes a lot of resources. In NWDI there are very consuming operations like Import, Build, Creating Propagation List, Assembly. So if you face any performance issues the SAP might not provide you any support.

It is required PI to be on a dedicated system.

Please refer to (any version of) the Master Guide (http://service.sap.com/instguidesnw ->  SAP NetWeaver 7.4 -> Installation:

page 28,60,62:

When you plan your system landscape for building integration scenarios, consider the following aspects:

"...It is mandatory to have a dedicated PI system. This applies to development, quality, and production landscapes. ..."

This is not included in the MASTER INSTALLATION GUIDE by chance. Hence please follow what SAP has recommended.

About your question the SCA has to be consistent with the version of the other SCAs. This means same release, same SPS. The fixes that have been developed in the previouse SPS or Patch Level are included in the next higher number one. Which means you do not need to install the previous SPS.

When you do apply a Patch you have to apply all the dependencies. More details in SAP note:

1974464 - SMP: Information on SCA Dependency Analysis for Java download objects

Thanks Milen, I will definitely convey this to my core XI/PI team who want this functionality.

Thanks a lot for the details.
