How to insert new entries in ICON table.

Hi Guys,

I have a requirement to insert new entry in ICON table. I tried like below but failed.

1) Go to ICON transaction

2) Hit New entries

Then one field is there "ID". How should I insert my new Icon (.gif picture) there ?

I searched in old SCN but nobody tells how to fill ID field.

AFAIK, each SAP icon is, an image/part of an image, stored on your desktop, installed as part of SAP GUI. When you see an Icon on the SAP GUI screen, it is not displayed by fetching from the SAP database.

The icons are also stored in SAP database as mimes, to be shown on Webpages (ITS/ BSP/ Webdynpro etc). Although you may be able to add new mime pictures, to be shown on webpages, you can't add new icons, to be shown on the SAP GUI.

Thanks for your reply. As I understood, its not possible to insert new entry in ICON table.

But why SAP has given us to create "NEW Entries" button using ICON transaction?

It also gives you a message "Do not make any changes (SAP data)", when you try to go into change mode.
