Good day!
Cannot able to receive email when error occurs in CCMS.
I conducted a test,
From tcode SBWP, I tried to send an email on my address as the recipient and INT communication type.
In sost, I receive an error message XS817
Processing cannot be continued due to a technical or configuration error in the SAP System.
Processing was terminated.
We also configured the SMTP setting,
Node: SMTP
Tick the Node in Use
Mail Host: FQDN
Mail Port: 25
Maybe we missed something in terms of the SMTP Configuration.
I hope someone can help me.
I have tried some of the procedures connected to this post.
but nothing happened.
Will appreciate any help.
Thanks.
Maria

Hello Maria
I am sure you tested the connection between SAP and the SMTP server on port 25 (using telnet or similar tool)
do have windows or Linux? can you test sending a mail outside SAP using native tools;
Linux; using sendmail, mail or ssmtp
Windows; depending on the version you might not have a native email client, but there are several freeware light clients on the internet ready to download.
Hi Maria,
Check if correct SMTP details are maintained in SCOT.
Check ICM logs.
As suggested by Mario please perform telnet connection test.
Go though below sap note to test the functionality.

Hello Maria
- Make sure that the e-mail address of the user sending the mail is populater in the user master data in SU01
- Attach here the SMICM configuration for SMTP (transaction SMICM- Goto - Parameters - Display)
- Attach here the SMICM log (SMICM - Goto - Trace File - Display)
Lets make sure we have ICM settings correct as described in
Hello Maria, glad to hear that
Yes, one option (less complicated) is to setup CCMS alerting to monitor failed background jobs. There is also a standard method for sending the e-mail on failure.
Basically you need to enter job names to be monitored in table ALBTCMON (using SM30), then in transaction RZ21 copy the standard method CCMS_OnAlert_Email_V2 and adapt to your requirements to a new Z_CCMS_OnAlert_Email_V2. Finally assign the method Z_CCMS_OnAlert_Email_V2 to the monitor template in transaction RZ20 (aborted jobs template). This is described here;
Second option (more complicated but more robust at long-term) would be to use solution manager built-in option to monitor jobs, in case you have your system connected to solman you can follow this guide;
https://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000012372014E/Job_Monitoring_Setup_Guide.pdf
Yes it worked well. I also performed several tests. I set the CCMS_OnAlert_Email to specific Job in RZ21 under Method Tab.
I am new to this, non-IT expertise also, most of the times Im totally blinded, indeed community support is really helpful.
I made a manual procedure myself also.
Thank you very much Mario. Have a good day!
.
Maria
