Cost elements not reflecting correctly in S_ALR_87012611

Hi Everyone,

This used to work properly pre upgrades done by the client. Now what is happening is that Cost Element 786150 isn't appearing on Debit side (see below)

Configuration and maintenance had no changes made and is correct.

Please share your thoughts.

I did refer to https://scn.sap.com/thread/1780114

However it isn't helpful for my scenario.

Hi Jacob,

Check the cost element posting for the cost center in KSB1? Whether the debit postings exist on the said period.

Dear Tamim & Mukthar,

What is happening is that cost element category 43 was assigned for this cost element and others like it - because the client uses ABC costing in t code KA06.

The cost element was assigned to activity type.

The issue is that in OK06, we need to add a new receiver object. When we try to add cost object and element it gives us a message saying that we need to change category from 43 to 21.

Why is this happening? Is there a way to get by this? We need 43 cause of the ABC costing used by clients and due to past data that relates to this element, we can't simply change 43 to 21 in KA02.

Please advice

Hi Jacob,

If you want to settle with specific cost element, then you have to provide the cost element which has category as 21/22. But you are trying to maintain the cost element which has category 43. Due to this it is throwing above error. However, you can select by cost element check box without maintaining the settlement cost element for receiver category. It will debit/credit with original cost element.

Hi Mukthar,

The thing is we have 2 cost elements that we both configured with category 43. If we follow your 2nd suggestion as to "select cost element box" on OKO6, then please tell me how the system differentiates picking up between both elements?

Hi Jacob,

The same cost element which got debited will be credited once you do settlement. The debit/credit indicators are differentiate between two elements. Otherwise create a settlement cost element with category 21/22 and maintain them in OKO6.

Dear Mukthar, ticking the cost element box in OKO6 worked, while managing category 43. Thank you so much.
