Unable to choose MPN material to material field in ME11

Hi,

I am unable to choose MPN material from selection option into material field in ME11. Even if I click and choose the MPN Material, the "Int. material. no." is copied to the material field in selection screen. Can I know whether this behaviour is a standard functionality? Is it possible to get MPN material in material field in ME11 with MPN search help.

Hi Vineeth,

There are few requirements to create a PIR for MPN.

Step 1 - As per Rosh A, you have to maintain a Manufacturer part profile in OMPN transaction code. Please make sure to tick Info Record for MPN.

Step 2 - In your company material master please maintain this Profile under purchasing tab.

Step 3 - Create a real material HERS type and maintain the Material description, Int. Material number, MFR part number, Material group etc. Please note that this material (HERS) is your Mfr part number and assign the same to material master under purchasing.

in your PO, MPN number will come instead of your own company material number.

I am writing these steps after successfully creation of a MPN info recod.

To create info record for MPN material, you've to set the indicator "Info record for MPN" in the manufacturer part profile and for the same, please use the following function.

SPRO ---> Material Management ---> Purchasing ---> Material Master ---> Define Manufacturer part profile

hI, Does the description which is there in the screen shot is the desiired one ? Please check the MPN and the Old material number assignment in the MMR and if they are properly mapped , then the usage will be OK . Regards,

Hi Vineeth,

You access material master records in trs MM01 (or MM02, MM03, ME11, ME12, ME13 or actually all other transactions) by the internal material number, always. If you want to use the MPN to access the material, you can assign it as internal number too when you create the material.

If you have several manufacturers for the same internal material, you can use the MPN functionality which allows you to create material master records of special type HERS (MPN) and link them to your internal material no.: http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_08/helpdata/en/6f/80b65334e6b54ce10000000a174cb4/frameset.htm.

In such case, you can give the HERS materials internal numbers the same as the MPN.

Hi Rafael,

We have MPN material with HERS material type. In MPN we also assigned an internal material is which is material type ERSA. Also have MPN profile for info record. So we could create info record for MPN material and it works fine.

My issue is not about process but about search help. When I use search help for MPN, instead of MPN material, internal material is selected to ME11 selction screen. Is it possible to get MPN material instead of Internal material. You may understand a little more, if you refer my attachment. Probably this may be standard behaviour.

I am sorry I misinterpreted your description. I have tested in my IDES system and here the system selects the MPN material; no pbm.

I wonder how the search help can find the internal material at all. Does it have the MPN? It shouldn't. Only the MPN material (HERS) shall have the MPN assigned.

Hi Juergen,

Thank you for your help here.

I compared the note and our system is update and search help is maintained as mentioned in the note. Also, we are in SAP_APPL : 617.

The search function works fine here, only matter is instead of "MPN number", the "internal material number" is passed to material MATNR field in ME12 and also in MM02.

But as Rafael told, it worked fine with my test in IDES, it passed "MPN number" to MATNR field when I used "Search help by MPN".

Something going wrong here.
