alignment issue

Hi everybody,

the my main rep design looks like this:

the preview like this

Is there an easy way to align the columns of the subreps (detail a, b, c, d) of the main rep or is it really a manually hard work?

Hi Eberhard,

There is no way we can align main report column with sub report columns in crystal.  Yes, this needs to be addressed manually.

Thanks,

Hi Sastry,

in jasper (I am not an expert at all, but I can see in the report inspector) you can determin rows and columns like hoizontal and vertical position, so they will exactly fit, not depending on main rep or sub rep.

Hi Eberhard,

I don't know about Jasper, but in Crystal it handles all data in sections (Ex: report, group, detail etc) it is not a cell based (row , column combination) so, we need to adjust column width for each section.

For example : you report field heading can be very short then field values in detail section.

Thanks,

Hi Eberhard,

When you wish to align fields inside Subreports with that of other Subreports/Main Report, here are some tips:

1) Turn off the borders on the Subreport. To do this, right-click the subreport > format subreport > border tab > Turn off right, left, top and bottom border

2) Right-click the Subreport > Size and position > change the value 'x' to 0. This aligns the subreport with the left margin.

3) Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all subreports

4) Get inside the Subreport > right-click the first column > size and position > note down the 'x' value and the 'width' value.

5) Get inside the second subreport > right-click the first column > size and position > type down the 'x' value and 'width' value you noted in step 4.

This aligns the first columns.

Repeat this step for all other columns.

Hope this helps.
