When I checked the detailed trace as suggested by Viktor, S_Service authority was missing on the user that I was using to connect to my backend ECC system.

as i see in the trace the HTTP response contains a Fault Tag, but i can not see more details there because it is not visible on the screenshot you attached.
Please check it in more detail to reveal what is causing the problem exactly.
Ensure that the request message is correct and the channel settings are fine in order to process the messages successfully.

Can you check for payload and correct soap Action in channel as well.
