PSA Tables in SAP BW 7.3

Since i am new to SAP, i'm not sure about SAP BW 3.5 Architecture. I want to know whether PSA and change Log Tables are same in SAP BW 3.5.

In SAP BW 7.3,when i'm activating DSO (Standard DSO) ODSR request is generated for Change Log. The Table for Change Log and PSA is different on that case. But on data source created in 3.5, i can find both REQ and ODS requests in PSA itself ( Info package level). So i'm having the question that PSA and change Log tables are same in BW 3.5?

Hi Vidya,

In 3x, PSA and changelogs were different, an ODSR and a REQ requests were created in the PSA. This was not really efficient as normally both contain the same data.

In 7x, SAP merge the 2. You only have an ODSR request that is also used to fill the upper targets (and act as a PSA).

Frederic.

Hi Frederic,

In 7.x SAP merged 2 means is it Same table for both PSA and change log?  But table's technical name for PSA and Change log is different.

So in 3.x, There will be two tables separately for PSA and change log. In which PSA have both ODSR and REQ request. Change log have ODSR request only.

Sagar

In 3x, PSA and change logs were actually stored in 2 different /BIC/B tables.

In 7x, you should not find any REQ request (only the change log is used).

Ok. I'm getting what you are trying to say. So in 3.x, We have both ODSR and REQ request in PSA which is used to load upper target . Same no of request will be also present in Change log table also. In 7.x, Only ODSR request used that to from Change log to load upper target.

Sagar

Hi Vidya,

ODS change log table and PSA table are two different tables.

You can confirm this by seeing technical name of both tables.

Request IDs were same in 3.X flow to identity this change log relates to what PSA request.

Hello VIDYA SAGAR BASKAR

PSA and Change Log table are not same in all BW Systems(2.x, 3.x and 7.x).

PSA Table Structure is same as DataSource Structure and Change Log table Structure is same as DSO Structure.

Thanks
